dear food blog, here are some things i ate:
eggs, salsa, raw milk cheddar, avocado, spinach, whole wheat and flax tortilla, yogurt.
whole wheat toast, goat cheese, chopped almonds, dried black mission figs, honey drizzle.
avocado, scrambled eggs, whole wheat and flax tortilla, homemade kimchi.
a bunch of people got all excited when i mentioned making homemade kimchi and a couple people were like 'i can't wait to see your recipe!' which kind of made me laugh. hello, i am a boring white girl from oregon. obviously, i googled a recipe. and even though my first attempt was edible and even sort of delicious, i certainly wouldn't consider it good enough to be like "INTERNET! DO EXACTLY AS I DO! I CHECKED OUT A BOOK ABOUT FERMENTATION FROM THE LIBRARY AND I AM NOW A KIMCHI EXPERT!" i will post about it soon but don't get your panties in a wad expecting a spectacular recipe or any kind of secrets. if you're interested, just google it like i did. or actually here, let me google that for you: http://drbenkim.com/how-make-kim-chi.htm
there you go.
HEY here is a question. any of you portland people have a hot tip on a high-maintenance hippie chow burrito shop place that ISN'T laughing planet? MAN i am tired of that place. i just want brown rice and whole wheat tortillas, is that so wrong? i know cha cha cha has whole wheat tortillas and i go there sometimes but i want 5 dollar pretend-healthy dinner from someplace else. i'm about to start doing the whole bowl thing but maybe there is a HIPPIE SECRET that i don't know about. PORTLAND. HELLO. also please feel free to begin making portlandia jokes. it's the right thing to do.

If only I ever left the house, maybe I'd know a place. This site might help http://portlandfood.org/
P.S. I'm not witty enough to make Portlandia jokes. Actually, they're not really that witty either when it comes to making their own jokes OHHHHHH BUUUURN no, just kidding.
Dr. Kim is the shit.
i am in an avocado on everything phase myself. honestly, i see no reason for it ever to end.
you eat way to healthy
Hi I'm a new follower and I'm really liking your blog and your writing!Check out my blog, For the Love of Food, at www.nicolelucianaepperson.blogspot.com
yum yum yum!
El Nutri-Taco!!! I'm from California and therefore snobby as shit about my Mexican food, and El Nutri-Taco gets super close while still having things like tempeh burritos and whole wheat tortillas.

And cheap cheap cheap!
Proper Eats in St Johns. Not strictly high-maintenance burritos, but they do have a bunch of them and it's a nice change from Laughing Planet.
And their bulk container area (they have a little grocery, too) has awesome passive-aggressive notes about how they "highly encourage" you to bring your own container, so that you can feel guilty about buying a container from them for 25 cents. It's a Portlandia joke all on its own.

Your food looks delicious and very healthy! I love food photos, my husband says they are my version of porn.
I Have only eaten two home cooked meals this week. Work got buys and we fell into the 'get something instant from the shop' trap. I look at this and think 'scrambled eggs would have been better than anything I've eaten'.
lisa! i eat scrambled eggs for dinner a lot, actually. it's definitely better for you than convenience food and it only takes a second to cook and you can put them on almost anything!
i just found your blog a few day ago & i hope you never quit writing! i appreciate your candidness and good taste! after perusing through, by the power of your suggestion & wonderful photos, i made your veggie burritos AND threw a poached egg on top of my roasted vegetables the next night - now, i am smitten with both & you! and your drawings are lovely too! keep on writing and sharing!
How about El Nutri on Woodstock? So stinking delicious, and they even do vegan if that floats your boat.
LOL. I'm totally chuckling about you and your kimchi. Truth be told, all that says is that many people enjoy the way you do things. So, that's a compliment.
We made our first round of kimchee at Thanksgiving this year. Used lots of red chilies and it just about blew our faces off. But, it was really, really good. Hope you had similar luck with yours!
I LOVE this blog! You better keep writing it... I don't know any other place that has the same mix of humor, sharp and soft.
Do you ever do product reviews? I have created "honey" using apples. It is called Bee Free Honee. You can e-mail me at katie@beefreehonee.com if you are interested in a sample. I could send you one. I am trying to get the word out and I cannot seem to find contact information on your site.
Thank you for your time. kt
katie why the fuck would i want to eat your stupid pretend honey when i could just eat real honey? gross.
the whole bowl is Worth It. they only do the one thing. but they do it really, really well. man! plus they opened that one on hawthorne a year (two years? three years? urg I have no idea) ago.
I love how you don't give a shit about being a hippie. There's a food cart called Fuego that has a few spots downtown...they've got brown rice, black beans, and yogurt!

You certainly eat a healthy diet...I wish I could do the same so I will keep checking in to see what's on your plate. Hopefully I will be inspired to do better.
That's very healthy!
Mmm! everything looks so delicious!! its my first time on your blog and i love it!
That eggs, salsa, avocado, spinach on whole wheat bread - looks SO good, a must-make this weekend. Thanks for sharing!

This food looks so amazing, great job with the photography. I love avacado, the richness pairs well with scrambled eggs! Great Choice!
