farmington army and good company

s

Our kitchen is still a large empty room (but with trim! and a grouted floor! and beautiful green walls!) and we are so goddamn tired of washing dishes in the bathroom that we're taking everyone we know up on offers for dinner parties in between our own jobs and obligations.

Last night we met up with some friends who made us fresh pasta and served us homemade pickles and giant trays of olives- oh man, I ate myself to death, it was awesome.

Add to that a pizza party at another close friend's house earlier in the week:

And taking a visiting friend to one of my favorite taco trucks:

cora y huichol

It's been a good week for eating. (A shitty week for taking care of my blood sugar, but who's keeping track, right?)

I also finally popped back into Josh's farm to take some photos, and you can find the full update over here.

My husband anticipates that the kitchen might be done within the next 2 weeks. I CANNOT WAIT.

I've made homemade pasta before, but it wasn't very thin since I couldn't roll it out myself like a pasta machine could. It looks beautiful!

I feel you on the bathtub-dish washing. Your kitchen is going to look great when finished, though!

Home stretch - wooo-hooo! I know just how awful and OLD washing the dishes in the bathtub gets - we did that for 3 months, while we did our kitchen (which is nearly the same color as yours...and we LOVE our green kitchen! Hang in there. 2 years later, I'm still thrilled with our new space and am proud of the work we (okay, the hubs & friends) did to make it happen!

I'm so jealous of 'taco truck'. Those two words have probably never even been said together down here in OZ.

Hey! My name is Aleisha, I've been following your food blog for a while. My family and I are out here in Portland, from Texas, for the express purpose of volunteering at local farms, here, so that we can learn how to do this wherever we land. I was wondering if Josh would like some volunteer help in exchange for sharing some knowledge with us. Is there any way that you could broker that question for us? I wasn't sure how to get in touch with him, directly. We are available any day, any time...we're just here for as long as we need to be...just me, my husband, and our 3 year old son. If you don't mind emailing me @ aliutterback@gmail.com, that would be awesome! Hope to hear from you soon:)

Peace...

That looks sooo good. I wish we had a taco truck! This may be stupid comment, because you seem to eat pretty fresh and organic and all that jazz, but we recently got rid of all high frucose corn syrup and super procesed foods, and all daily headaches have vanished, and my blood sugar has been completely normal without even paying real attention to it. It's a flipping miracle... well no it's common sense, but it feel damn good anyway. :)

I would love a taco truck. No such things exists for hundreds of miles. Maybe I have a new calling. I am diabetic and always struggle with my blood sugars, always.

Kitchen remodeling is one of life's worst experiences. Hang tough. Order will eventually be restored and you may actually live through it :-). I found your blog by chance but will be back often. I hope you are having a great day. Blessings...Mary

Well I'd love to have you guys 'round for dinner and if I didn't live in Australia I'm sure it would be nice for you all to pop around. Just made a pumpkin soup for lunch and have a chicken crock pot going for dinner. Hang in there. The kitchen results will be worth it.
P.S. Cannot wait to see what the first meal you make for friends in your new kitchen will be!
