Why yes, I did just have hot dogs fried in bacon fat on toast (fried in bacon fat) for lunch. Thanks for asking.

Mmmm...bacon grease. My God, that looks so good. You are not right....especially for posting this after I had a small salad with balsamic vinegar. Don't get me wrong, I love salads. It's just I'm on week two of losing the 40lbs. that miraculously appeared in the past 2 years. :(

mz. spider- i feel your pain. it's taken me over a year to lose about 40 pounds but i still eat stuff like this once in awhile. it's actually not a particularly unhealthy meal- the dogs were kosher all-beef dogs without any corn syrup, the toast was sprouted wheat, and bacon fat is over half mono-unsaturated fats, as far as i know, which are the 'flat-belly' fats. nom nom nom.

Hmm...this is NOT helping my craving for hot dogs any.

I can't show this to my hubs! He gets upset with me for not frying our hot dogs (I tend to boil them cos that's what I'm used to growing up in Australia) lol!

I love your blog! and even though I am eating breakfast right now, those hot dogs look so much nicer than my boiled egg and blanched asparagus. Oh my gosh and burrito night! i can't read your blog when I am hungry! :-)

The reason I so adore my favorite foodie blogs is that I love food, and love that there are others out there who, even though they might consider their waistline, have their priorities straight when it comes to certain nutritional necessities... (necessity being in the eye of the beholder, clearly...)

like so many others, bacon and eggs are a common breakfast item for me on the weekends, but sometimes i like to fry the bacon first, then crack the egg into the bacon grease and fry the egg that way. bacon appetizer+bacony fried eggs = win+win.

the only sad part is when the eggs are ready and i realize there's no bacon left. so sometimes i try to save at least one piece.

mmmm...bacon fat. I just had a grilled (leftover from yesterday and cold) hot dog for a snack. I like to cook the bacon until it's just about done, plop the egg on top and cook it over medium. then eat it on bread with mayo. Talk about a heart attack waiting to happen. But I don't eat many eggs anymore since we have an egg allergy in the house.

Alicia, you rock. I really appreciate your reference to "Real Food" by Nina Planck. I NEED a lifestyle change. It's pathetic to admit, but I had lost 50lbs. within 6-8mo. right before my wedding in 11/07. We haven't even reached our 2nd anniversary and I've gained back 40!!!! WTH?! That said, I've proved to myself that I can lose the weight. It's keeping it off and maintaining that is the tough part. I love food so I'm hoping to get a different perception as to what to put into my body....that still tastes GOOD.

Anyway, lady, thanks again. xo

amen, lady. this sounds delicious. we fried up some vegetarian sausage links in bacon recently, and it was one of the best ideas i've ever had.
